The field guide discussed the previous page serves as our navigational map for daily existence. It does not and cannot, however, encompass the entirety of existence. The field guide is a form of contracted energy, dealing with contracted energy. The KNOWN is composed, largely, of contracted energy.

Contracted energy, however, emerges from a decontracted state; it cannot exist alone. Like the two ends of a probability distribution, the completely contracted and completely decontracted serve as anchors for the entire spectrum of existence that is suspended between them. This spectrum is referred to as the Preformal Field Preformal Field. : The spectral field of potential, containing principls and structures that are causally determinant of the finality of Manifestation (see: Stream of Creation)

Because contracted energy cannot exist without the decontracted, for a human being to spend their entire life dealing only with the contracted is to remain limited and partial. If the field guide serves as our navigation, but the decontracted exists outside of the field guides range of application, how do we then not only realize the existence of the decontracted but begin to access it?

Like a spring whose functionality depends upon a torsion created by pulling from both ends, dynamic quality of mind exists only when there are two poles, a pole of contraction and a pole of decontraction, defining in their extensional range a spectrum of relative contraction.

Contracted energy is dense energy, energy that has form, whether fluid like water or electrical current, or highly structured as in diamond. On the level of consciousness, the contracted manifests as the totality of the imager plane.

Decontracted energy is unmanifested, rife with potential, energy that is available for transformation into infinite possibility. On the level of consciousness, the decontracted is psychological ground, aware, attentive, highly alert, silent, pre-formal. Pre-formal : the field of Potential (principles and structures) that lies 'upstream' of manifested form in the instantaneous Stream of Creation.

It is important that a balance exist between contracted and decontracted consciousness. When there is excessive ideation, especially on unconscious, background levels, there is little participation of the decontracted within consciousness. As a result, the mind remains unstretched, dynamically frozen. The decontracted pole would have been established, would have become the seat of consciousness, had not the vital energy of the mature being been diverted and recommitted to the imager structure.

The unknown is forever beyond the known, a spectrum of relative contraction. The contracted unknown, the physical manifestation of the universe, is at least partially visible. At the other end of the spectrum lies the decontracted unknown, shrouded in mystery. The decontracted unknown is forever untouched, sacred, the source of Creation that resides deep within.

Conception of the meaning and character of the unknown, especially of the decontracted unknown, can take place only as an image. Any concept or idea that one may have of the decontracted unknown cannot be it, nor represent it accurately, because the decontracted pole is characterized by its total unknownness, its infinite indefiniability. Therefore the absence of the decontracted pole in consciousness can only be fully appreciated based upon the spectacular effects of its sudden appearance.

Such an appearance is spontaneous and startling. It is marked by an instantaneous release of the primary psychic spasm, a sudden end to the hidden yet vast energy dissipation of primal fear, and the appearance of the full extended spectrum of dynamic mind.

This is insight, a burst of intelligence and energy, a sense that one has suddenly gained the ability to move.
